  1. When considering your wants, and imperfections, acknowledge his goodness Oh God! Who honored us with humanity, endowed us with speech, and placed us in society to receive and confer reciprocal helps and mutual obligations, protection from injuries, our enjoyments of the comforts and the pleasures of life, all of these we owe to the assistance of others, and could not enjoy, but in the bands of society.

  2. Therefore it is your duty to be a friend to mankind, as it is in your interest that man should be friendly to you.

  3. As the nose breathes sweetness from its own nature, so the heart of a benevolent man produces good works.

  4. He enjoys the ease and tranquility of his own heart, and jollies in the happiness and prosperity of his neighbors.

  5. He/She does not listen to slander. In fact the faults and the failings of men give a pain to his heart.

  6. His desire is to do good, and he researches out the occasions to do so. In removing oppression for others, he finds relief as well.

  7. The majority of his thoughts are on how to obtain happiness for all men. From the generosity of his heart, he endeavors to do so.
